A promising young Nigerian student has suddenly passed away after wishing himself “Happy Birthday” on social media.
Matthias Nyong, a 300level student in the Economics Department of University of Calabar (UNICAL) died few hours after he shared his birthday photo via his Facebook handle.
It was gathered that Mathias died as a result of domestic fire outbreak which took place in their apartment on 24th August in Ikot Ekpo community of 8 miles, Calabar, the Cross River state capital.
It was also discovered that the same accident killed other three members of the same family (his father, sibling and uncle) making it four casualties. Leaving his surviving mother and a sister in the state of grievance.
This heartbroken news was brought to the public notice by the University of Calabar SUG, Director Of Information through the school social media (Facebook) page “My UNICAL Dreams, ”
