Court grants detained Lawyer, Emperor Ogbonna Bail of 20M

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has today granted #20 million bail to Emperor Ogbonna, the detained Lawyer whose application for the enforcement of his Fundamental Rights was filed by Lagos based legal practitioner and human right activist, Monday Ubani Esq.

At the hearing today, the 17th day of July 2020, the court after listening to Nkem Okoro Esq appearing with Obioma Ezenwobodo, for the applicant standing in for the former 2nd Vice President of NBA, Chief Ubani, and after hearing the opposition to the application by the council to Department of State Security(DSS), the Justice held that DSS have not shown any diligence in the prosecution of the case.

The court thereafter granted bail to Emperor Ogbonna Esq, in the sum 20 million naira(20,000,000.) and two sureties in the like sum, one of whom must be in the civil service, not less than level 14.

The matter was further adjourned by the court to 17th September 2020, in view of the court’s annual vacation which commences on Monday next week.
