Some members of The Peoples Democratic Party, Edo State Chapter have approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the National leadership of the party from dissolving the Party Executives earlier elected this year by both local government and State Congresses and stopping INEC from recognizing such move.
It was gathered by our correspondence that prior to the inauguration of Governor Obaseki and his Deputy, he requested the National leadership of the PDP to dissolve the entire State structure of the party in order to bring his own loyal decampees into the leadership structure of the party. This however, met stiff resistance from party leaders and Executives within the State. With the feeling that the National leadership is just about to grant the pressured request from Governor Obaseki some members who Are Executives of the State and Local government chapter of the party approached the court to seek redress. The members are:
(1) Hon. Baba Habeeb Sheriff Idenobemhe – Assistant State Secretary PDP, Edo State.
(2) Hon. Onaiwu Felix – PDP Chairman, Ovia South West LGA, Edo State.
(3) Hon. Umoru Shaika – PDP Chairman, Ward 3 Etsako West LGA, Edo State.
(4) Hon. Ebhodage Christopher – PDP Chairman, Ward 10 Esan North East LGA, Edo State.
The Governor was said to have asked the party leadership to harmonize the Ward, LGA and State Executives by bringing in his people into the executive committees. The big question therefore is, can congress elected committee be Harmonized?
Weeks ago, our correspondence gathered that the Governor was quoted to have told the State and National leadership, “No harmonization, No cabinet”.
