Edo2020: APC Members are Asking About Their Fates.

Reported by Elempe Dele

While our reporters were out in town to question party members, expecially APC members, their concern was basically what is going to happen to them going into the party primaries.

Mr. Imona, a Benin resident and an APC member from Egor was worried. ‘My problem is what’s how are we going to handle this problems we are saturated with. See, we have the primaries in June, there are issues of the who the legitimate chairman of the party is. This is fundamental. Who will sell the Expression of Interest Forms? Who will sell the Nomination forms? We have two factions. One led by Anselm Ojezua while another led by Colonel Imuse. And the matter of their legitimacy is in court. I tell you, it’s worrisome and curious.”

Our reporters also spoke to Mrs. Osaghale, an APC member, from Oredo and she has this to say, “I hate when people cannot put their differences behind them; this is selfish. What is the issue that cannot be resolved? I am sure we will go Rivers and Zamfara ways, no doubt. The party is broken and no side is compromising. This is nothing but selfish. Which of the so called headquarters is legal and would attend to those who would be contesting? I am not a lawyer but I am sure this will affect us immensely and I don’t see any way around it unfortunately. We cannot say what will happen until the case is determined in court. I am not happy, APC has too many greedy leaders. It’s unfortunate.”

And lastly, our reporters spoke with an APC member from Ekpoma, Mr. Victor and he had this to say, “I don’t see any ways out of this mire. I am going to leave this party after the primaries. We have Changed for the worst. Let’s us not pretend all is well, all is not well. We are in a deep shit. While the governor is not accommodating at all while the Oshiomole’s led camp is not doing anything to see a truce is arranged. Everyone is calling for the other’s head. The worst part of it is that the the Oshiomole’s camp is not in one accord, each member there want to contest and they are ready to kill for it. How can people who want to serve be so desperate for power? I don’t understand.”

From what our reporters gathered, it seems most APC members are not sure whether they will be part of the 2020 elections since the party is not being able to resolve their crisis which seem to be unresolvable.
