The Edo State Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee, has condemned the shooting of two youths in Oka-bere Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State recently.
The chairman of the committee Chief Eduwu Ekhator Obasogie, gave the condemnation, while speaking with Journalists in his office in Benin City during the week.
He stated that though his committee has not been formally briefed of what transpired in the community, he however stated that it has commenced investigation aimed at ensuring peaceful resolution of the crisis.
Chief Ekhator advised those responsible for the attack to surrender themselves to the police instead of being evasive as they should not expect to escape justice after committing such attrocious crime. He called on the police and other security agencies in the state to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book to serve as deterrent to others.
Chief Eduwu Ekhator Obasogie, however warned those fomenting troubles in communities across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State to refrain forthwith as his committee has come up with measures to check their excesses.
He also thanked law-abiding Community Development Associations chairmen in the state for their peaceful conduct, which he noted is the bedrock of peaceful co-existence and community developments.
It will be recalled that two persons, Efosa Uwadia, 35 and Ehigiator, were reportedly shot on their legs while the third person, a 32-yr- old, Osabuohien Desmond Omoruyi, was beaten up and sustained injury in oka-bere community by the youth chairman and his aide, during elders’ meeting in the town hall forthnight ago, as the 32 –yr-old, Osabuohien Desmond Omoruyi, managed to escape after beaten up to sustain injury to an unknown place, appealing to anybody that comes across him should contact the family.
It was reliable scooped that the two suspects are yet to be arrested, but one of the guns used for the dastardly act, was allegedly recovered by some gallant youths present at the scene of crime.
