THE ELECTORAL POWER SWITCH, IT’S TIME AGAIN, (Edo State 2020)

IKHINMWIN Felix Precious.

The Nigerian Constitution understands the Dynamics of leadership in democratic State, hence, provisions were made for it.
Nigeria is a federation of 36 States and conduct election periodically for federal as well as States political offices.
It’s that time again in Edo we make judicious use of our electoral power switch! Implication; wrong change over is highly detrimental. it can lead to epileptic power supply or total outage (depending on what you make of it!) . Just as right change over is beneficial, and can earn us constant supply.
The effect of your action will rub on every sector of the State for the next four years; Economy, Education, Health etc. That’s it! Be in exercising your right cautious.
That’s where who you give your vote matter most. This right is granted only once in a period of four lengthy years. Your franchise is your Civic right to have access to that Power house that allow you to either change power surge or maintain status quo! The choice remains yours. And your decision is pivotal. So make wise use of the opportunity before you!

The mechanism of the rule of law and democracy are two major features that guide our electoral process and power, and it’s operational in every civilized society without which a society is seen often as barbaric, uncivilized and uncultured. The rule of law in it simplest form guarantee the boundary of ones freedom. Thus, it creates the basic conditions in which individuals can pursue their own personal development and growth as they choose. While Democracy, is the only legally recognized means of assuming governmental power. I hope this is clear enough. Your right is your Power without which one is powerless against molestation, misuse, abuse and every other fundamental assault of power uphold.

Maharma Gandhi once rightly said, ‘the things that will destroy us are politics without principle, pleasure without conscience, wealth without work, knowledge without character, business without morality, science without humanity, and workshop without sacrifice.’ Since it is not possible for everyone to be actively involve in governance hence everyone is constitutionally given a right to elect a leader who represent the majority interest against his personal wish. Otherwise some group will be ignored and marginalised and this could spring a fertile ground for intra state conflict.

The 1999 Constitution is not in doubt of your Civic right to switch power. It clearly states, ‘we the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have firmly adopted this document for the purpose of promoting good Government and welfare of all persons in our country on the principle of freedom, equality and justice, and for the purpose of consolidating the unity of our people.’
We are in critical times in Edo, don’t play with almost half a decade of your right to access the switch of electoral power. This is the you’ve long waited for. Justice Uwais once wrote, ‘free and fair elections are the corner Stone of every democracy and the primary mechanism for exercising the principle of sovereignty of the people and are therefore a crucial requirement for good governance in any democracy.’

We cannot afford to lower our voice and let down our electoral rights and standard just to hold the interest of people who impose themselves on the greater number of the electorates. Anyone found doing this infringes on your right to choose. This as well is against the tenets of democracy.
The worse mistakes in life are the ones we never learn from.  Until the lion learns to write, every story will always glorify the hunter. You can’t keep hurting a person and expect them to remain calm.

Respect is earned, honesty is appreciated, trust is gained, loyalty is returned. The only people I owe my loyalty to are the ones who never made me question theirs.
For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. Mark Twain knew from experience, ‘it’s easier to fool a people than to convinced them that they have been fooled.’
Edo searches for a leader. Not a talker, not fast runner, no, not wrestler, certainly not a criminal nor a political thug. Edo simply need a responsible leader that can deliver.

I have found such quality in this remarkable son of Edo indigene. Rt. Hon. Dr. Omoregie Ogbeide Ihama is still the surest option for Edo Governorship. PDP is the answer! Vote not just the party, but for the quality of candidate.
You don’t want to add to the scars nor sustain new burns. Safely switch over power and enjoy constant supply of social amenities and economy overhauling.
Seth Gordon once remarked, ‘there is no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’s missing is the will to execute them.’ Take a stand, go and vote. It’s your golden opportunity. Your future now lies on your thumb! Be wise enough to redeem the time. It’s time to liberate yourself.
Get ready for Governorship polls comes Sept. 2020.
Just a word for you!
Stay bless.
