The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Frank Okiye has described a former Speaker of the House late Zakawanu Garuba as a leader whose passion for excellence and pragmatic approach to issues stood him out in all endeavours.
Hon. Okiye said this when he led other Honourable members and Staffs to joined prominent Edo indigenes including the Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu to attend the forty days Fidau prayer held in honor of the late Zakawanu Garuba in Auchi Etsako West local government area.
Eminent personalities including Edo state Deputy Governor and Speaker Edo State House of Assembly Hon. Frank Okiye and his wife Yolanda converged in Auchi the administrative headquarters of Etsako West local government area to attend the 40th day Fidau prayers .
Edo State Deputy Governor Comrade Shaibu, Speaker Hon. Okiye and son of the deceased Aliyu ,family members and some associates of the deceased later visited the graveside to offer prayers.
Late Zakawanu Garuba was a former two-time member of the state House of Assembly and represented Etsako West constituency .
While in the House, he served as chairman of the House committee on judiciary, human rights, and legal matters and became Speaker in 2007.
