UNKNOWN GUNMEN SHOT WOMAN DEAD IN BENIN

 AS ESCAPED SON DECLARED WANTED OVER GAY PRACTICE

 BENIN CITY- Unknown gunmen, yesterday shot a woman, Mrs. Joy Monday Matthew, dead at her Ogida Street residence, Off Siluko Road Benin City, just as her escaped son, Matthew Imafidon Odion, has been declared wanted by the police over his alleged involvement in gay practice.

Speaking with Crime Reporters, a middle-aged man, called Mr. Charles, who eventually a neighbour to the deceased woman, said that the gunmen numbering 3, invaded the house of late Mrs. Joy Monday Matthew at about 10pm  and demanded for the presence of her son, but the said woman who was shocked by the presentation of the gunmen, quickly told them that her son was not around as he had travelled out of the state, saying that the said Mrs. Joy Monday Matthew, was barely rounding off her statement, when one of the gunmen angrily shot her dead for telling them her son had travelled out of Benin.

The source said that immediately after the gunmen left the scene, the police who were alerted, came and started to launch an investigation into the matter with a view to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of the deceased, pointing out that the police from Ogida Police Divisional Headquarter, assured of fishing out the assassins.

The source further added that the police IPO, at that juncture, recalled how the deceased’s son, Matthew Imafidon Odion had hitherto been declared wanted by the police, for an offence bothering on alleged gay practice, popularly called homosexuality, which is contrary to the provision of same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013 and punishable under criminal law with 14 years Imprisonment as recommended by the criminal Justice system, stressing that the general public has been admonished to give any useful information which will lead to the apprehension of the said Matthew Imafidion Odion, particularly against the backdrop of the recent killing of his mother by unknown gunmen.
